I cant think of a better time to start planning this years garden than a snow day. Here in Victoria, we aren't used to "snowmagedon". However when I see my garden as a clean white landscape, it clears the slate mentally, to dream up a planting plan.
Every year it is essential that crops are rotated. Poor harvest and bug issues can haunt farmers and gardeners alike. So knowing where things were last year is helpful.
With farmers it may be easier to know which field grew what, but with smaller gardens a map is by far the easiest way to keep track. Personally I made a template on my computer of the general outline of the area and the beds within. Its easier than drawing one over and over again. I like to print out the plan and then pencil in the changes.Take a picture of your garden each year at its peak and put a copy with your garden plans for inspiration on those cold wintery snow days.
Just in case you miss the snow when it is gone, Snow In Summer can create cascading walls of snow white flowers in beds, borders and yearly hanging baskets. Provides bees and butterflies early pollen in Spring.
